Game Recap

A typically tough WCAL match up of two of the better teams! And it started with a blast! Just 4 minutes in Grant Frase took the ball down the right sideline and made a spectacular cross from the end line to a waiting Michael McDermott who volleyed it out of the air into the net. However, one minute later Smithville answered with an identical play of their own, headed in by Conner Cyrus.
From there the action settled into a back and forth affair. Both teams controlled the pace and tempo at times and each had excellent opportunities, but there was no further scoring until the second half.
Early in the second half Jeremy Woodarski placed a close ranged shot into the net for the final tally. Although the Indians pressed hard, especially the final 20 minutes, they were unable to create the equalizer. The win for the Smitties gives them a 5-2 record with a 3-0 mark in the league. Rittman now stands at 3-3 with a 1-2 mark in WCAL play.
Next up for the Tribe is Tuslaw at home on Thursday, 9/7 for a varsity 5:45 p.m. start.
