So the soccer year ends – and in an unusual fashion. Normally, the season ends with a tournament loss, but there was one game to be made up – at Northwestern.
It was a big game too. The winner takes all . . . well, the winner gets 4th place, the loser 5th.
The play matched the importance, both teams looked highly skilled. 12 minutes in a foul was called against the Indians and the ensuing play ended with the ball in the net. Of course, Coach Bud questioned the initial call (the official was only 60 yards away), as well as a possible offsides, but the officials are always right.
In the second half, the Indians increased the heat and had many great opportunities, but just could not convert. One of the Huskies few shots was well placed over the long reach of our keeper and nestled into the netting, for the 2-0 victory.
Overall, it was a good season with many significant moments. We graduate FIVE great seniors who will be greatly missed, but still have are turning nucleus of top level skill ready to earn their place in Rittman soccer lure.
