Rittman; 4-1-1 WCAL 1-1-1
Waynedale 1-5-0 WCAL 0-3-0
The first half was a strong stand off by both teams. Excellent defenses and goal keeping at both ends of the field. The second half balanced a little more for Rittman, but Waynedale still had some good attacks.
After much aggressive pressure, the deciding goal came at 2.08 remaining in the second half when Logan May gathered the ball to the right of the goal about 6 yards off the kine and slotted a nice pass to Eli Vale, centered and six yards out. With Brewer coming at him, Vale one touched to his right and placed the ball to the left and into the corner of the net. Eli took advantage of goalkeeping trends by the area’s top keeper from 2017, and smartly deposited the winner in the bank!
It was a well played match on a damp field, yet both teams showed skill and poise.
The Golden Bear’s coaches expressed a concern at half time regarding a spot on the field that was treated with sand. The officials deemed it playable and the Indians settled the matter by keeping the ball in Waynedale’s end of the field away from the area in question.
This was an important league win, keeping the Indians in contention for the WCAL lead.
