The Rittman Varsity Volleyball team took on the Tuslaw Mustangs in Game 2 of their Strasburg tri-match. The Indians beat Strasburg in Game 1, but fell to Tuslaw in Game 2 with a score of 2-1 (23-25, 25-16, 19-25).
Rittman ws led in serving by senior Amy Hunter with 12 points and 2 aces, junior Sarah Hovest with 5 points and 1 ace, senior Bri Busic with 3 points and 3 aces, senior Maddie Like with 2 points and 2 aces, junior Miranda Brainard with 2 points and 1 ace, and sophomore Makayla Yarman with 1 point and 2 aces. Leading the team offensively at the net was Busic as she rained down 12 kills. Also earning points from spikes were Hovest with 7 kills, Like with 6 kills, Hunter with 3 kills, Yarman with 1 kill, and freshman Emma Berkihiser with 1 kill. Setter Amy Hunter dished out 23 assists to kickstart the Indian attack. Leading the tribe in digs was libero Miranda Brainard with 18 digs. Also helping with defense was Like with 12 digs, Hovest with 10 digs, Hunter and Busic each with 4 digs, and Berkihiser with 1 dig. Busic also contributed to the team’s defense with 2 solo blocks. Receiving the Tuslaw serves were Brainard with 14 serve receptions, Like and Busic each with 9 serve receptions, and Hovest and Berkihiser each with 1 serve reception.
With the win and the loss at today’s tri-match, Rittman now has an overall record of 3-4 (2-0 WCAL). The Indians will play next on Tuesday with a home game against Waynedale.
